A weekend for myself!

One thing I had to learn from all these lockdowns is appreciating time at home.

Let me explain...

Being at home for long periods could be frustrating (at least for me), but with a bit of creativity, I have learned to stay at home and enjoy its benefits and ultimately create some quality time with myself.

The so-called "self-care."

Here are a few things I have been doing while at home! Of course, if you prefer to party on weekends, that is nice too (since lockdown is over, yay!) Still, you can apply these self-care tips not necessarily on weekends, even during some of your lunch breaks while working remotely or any evening of the week...

  • Take a relaxing bath!

(or shower if you don't have a bathtub)

Here we go again! Always the same good advice. But it really is a fantastic one! Maybe with your favourite drink in your hand while reading your book...

  • Make your hair look pretty!

Without necessarily going to the hairdresser, you can do your hair for yourself! It always feels nice to feel lovely when you pass in front of a mirror.

  • Turn off social media and enjoy some music!

Just pick a playlist that puts you in a good mood.

Maybe something fun that can make you dance while you clean up your house or doing your nails... and forget about all the calls, messages, emails and Instagram stories. Just have a nice social media break.

  • Take a nice nap!

Taking a nap is a luxury you have to indulge in.

Especially on the weekends! Half an hour is enough to recharge you.

  • Comfort food!

Even in the most ferocious diets, some exceptions to the rules are allowed. Overall, who doesn't like a good pizza? I do! During the weekends with the extra time, we can prepare something that we really love! Or why not even take a food delivery if we are too busy making our nails!

  • Clean your make-up brushes!

Now I know what you are all thinking, "how should I take care of myself by cleaning my brushes?". Because without knowing, it is a form of meditation. Just like all those actions that focus your attention on the "here and now" that make the hands go but at the same time require a "basic" concentration, brush cleaning is similar. It helps to disconnect, stay in the moment, and have your brush clean, which is always a good thing!

Did you enjoy my self-care routine? What do you do on your self-care weekends?

Xxx V.
